Murphy Leads Mustangs At A&M Invite

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (SMU) – Charlotte Tara Murphy led the way for the Mustangs with a 17^th-place finish as SMU cross country finished in fourth at the A&M Invite on Saturday morning at the Dale Watts Cross Country Course.

Murphy was the third different Mustang in as many races to lead the team after her 17th-place finish on Friday (19:15.5). Tess Misgen led Mustangs in the opener and Maddie Hulcy finished first among Mustangs last week. This week, Hulcy finished in a time of 19:25.3, good for 20th place for the freshman. Sophomore Misgen finished not too far behind in 23rd with a time of 19:31.3. Sophomore Olivia Lackner recorded a 34th-place finished completing the course in just under 20 minutes, 19:58.1.

Lior Kremer moved up 12 spots after the first 2K, the largest jump of anyone in the field. Kremer moved from 61st to her final placing of 49th with a time of 20:46.7. Fellow freshman Eve Hoeltgen finished in 62nd in 21:51.7.

As a team the Mustang finished tied with UTRGV with 109 points. Texas A&M won the meet with 18 points going 1-2-4-5-6. Kelsie Warren of Texas A&M was the overall winner.

The Mustangs will return to the Dale Watts Course in College Station for the final regular season meet, the Arturo Barrios Invite, on Oct. 19.
