Allie Thornton has been named this week's American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her performance in the Mustangs' 3-2 overtime win at Oklahoma.
Thornton scored the golden goal in the first overtime period to help SMU remain undefeated on the road. In the second half of the match, she scored the second goal of the night for the Mustangs to take the lead in the 68
th minute.
Throughout her 101 minutes on the field, Thornton tallied five shots with four of them being on goal in addition to her two goals.
After this week's play, Thornton is leading the American Athletic Conference in game-winning goals with four and is tied for the most goals in the league with nine. She is also making appearances on NCAA leaderboards, tying for first in game-winning goals and tying for second in goals.
The Mustangs are back in action on Thursday, Oct. 3 at Westcott Field, taking on UCF at 7 p.m. CT to begin conference play.
