COLLEGE STATION, Texas (SMU) – The SMU men's swimming team fell, 158-99, on the road to No. 5 Texas A&M Friday evening. The swimming only event was held at the Rec Center Natatorium.
Stephen Cheng picked up the lone victory for the Mustangs, earning his third straight win in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in a time of 1:49.81.
Matan Segal was second in the event, coming in at 1:51.58.
Segal was also the runner-up in the 100 back, covering the distance in 51.22, while Cheng rounded out the top three in that distance at 51.57.
Cole Fleming led the Mustangs in butterfly events finishing second in the 200 fly (1:52.79) and third in the 100 fly (50.96), and it was
Caleb Rhodenbaugh who continued to pace SMU swimmers in breaststroke races with a second place finish in the 100 (56.23) and a third place finish in the 200 (2:01.48).
Colin Feehery placed third in the 100 breast at 56.61.
Feehery was the runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley, clocking in at 1:51.01.
Charlie Kaye (50 free, 21.09) and
Petar Bozhilov (1,000 free, 9:39.53) led the Mustangs in freestyle events with third place finishes.
In relay action, SMU placed second in both the 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relays.
Riley Hill, Rhodenbaugh,
Ralph Koo and Kaye opened the evening clocking a 1:31.27 in the medley, while
Daniel Forndal, Kaye, Koo and
Justin Baker teamed up for a 1:23.36 in the free relay.
