DALLAS (SMU) – Olivia Grossklaus posted an NCAA B cut and the Mustangs swept a pair of events on the final night against Drury at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium.
SMU posted sweeps in the 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard breaststroke.
Grossklaus registered her first NCAA B cut of the season with a 1:58.01 in the 200 fly for the win. Maxine Parkinson (2:00.86), who won the 100 distance on the opening night, was second, and Mya VanderHagen (2:04.92) finished third.
In the 200 breast, Jenna Watson covered the distance in 2:17.36 to top all swimmers. She led teammates Julia Yakushi (2:17.77) and Olivia Hernandez (2:19.94) in the top three.
The Mustangs' freshman freestylers continue to impress, as Indra Vandenbussche paced the field in the 100 distance, turning in a time of 50.29 for the win. Johanna Gudmundsdottir was just behind at 50.54 for second.
In the 200-yard backstroke, Gabi Grobler was SMU's top finisher, coming in at 1:58.84 for second place. Kiley Vandevier was third with a time of 2:02.95.
Frederica Kizek led the Mustangs in the mile with a runner-up finish, covering the distance in 16:50.93.
SMU's 400-yard freestyle relay team of Gudmundsdottir, Sam Smith, Grobler and Meriel Upton closed the three-day event with a season-best 3:21.41 for the win.
The Mustangs will host a long course time trial event starting at 10 a.m. Sunday. Results can be found on the Meet Mobile App. The event is closed to the public.
