HOUSTON (SMU) – After night one of the four-day American Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, SMU sits in second place.
All four Mustang divers advanced to the 3 meter Championship Final on the first day, and three went on to secure personal-best performances in the evening's event.
Johanna Holloway led the group with a career-best 311.90 for runner-up honors, and her second podium finish as a Mustang.
Nicole Stambo was fourth in the field with a career mark of 304.95 and
Taylor Ohlhauser's personal-best 297.00 was good for sixth place.
Katie Crown rounded out the group and finished eighth. Her 298.35 in prelims was a personal best.
In relay action, SMU's 200-yard medley relay team of
Felicia Anderson,
Gabi Grobler,
Erin Trahan and
Sam Smith combined for runner-up honors with a season best 1:38.34.
The Mustangs finished fifth in the 800-yard freestyle relay as
Olivia Grossklaus,
Janelle Gursoy,
Alex Stevens and
Madison Kinsey covered the distance in 7:19.43.
Houston leads the team scoring with 135 points, SMU comes in at 118 and Cincinnati rounds out the top three at 80. Connecticut (75), ECU (67) and Tulane (60) follow in order.
Thursday's action begins with swimming prelims at 10 a.m. CT, and diving prelims to follow at 12:30 p.m. Finals star at 6 p.m. On the schedule is the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley, 50-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle relay and women's 1 meter.
