SMU Men's Tennis announced the hire of Grey Hamilton as the Volunteer Assistant Coach for the 2020-21 season.

Grant Chen. "I had the utmost respect for Grey as a fierce competitor with tremendous sportsmanship. He always found a way to raise the bar for himself and the team. I know he will make an immediate impact as a coach with our roster next season."

Hamilton hails from Southern Pines, N.C. and played four seasons of tennis at his alma mater, Ole Miss. Hamilton and the Rebels made the tournament each of his four seasons in Oxford, playing for head coach and former SMU All-American, Toby Hansson. Hamilton won 38 singles matches in his career and was a part of a nationally-ranked doubles duo, ending his junior season at a career high No. 20. He and his partner racked up seven ranked wins that season, winning the ITA Regional Championships and earning a NCAA Doubles Championship berth.

In Hamilton's senior season, the Rebels advanced to their 25
th straight NCAA Championships knocking off Duke and No. 4 Stanford on their way to a Sweet 16 finish. Â

During his time with Ole Miss, Hamilton was a three-time ITA Scholar Athlete and made the SEC Academic Honor Roll every season.

After completing his Ole Miss career. Hamilton competed on the Pro Tour from June 2018 to October 2019. He spent the past season as the Volunteer Assistant at Ole Miss as the Rebels posted a 10-4 record with four ranked wins.

Along with his time coaching at Ole Miss, Hamilton has been a tennis instructor every summer and winter at Cameron Moore Tennis in Cary, N.C.

"I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to continue my career in tennis by joining the SMU coaching staff," said Hamilton. "This will be a great opportunity to learn and improve as a coach and person, as well as to hopefully make a difference in the lives and tennis careers of our players. I can't wait to get started."
