Jul 13

SAN ANTONIO (TGHOF/SMU) – SMU All-American Hank Kuehne was announced as one of five inductees to the Texas Golf Hall of Fame.

Kuehne began his collegiate career at Oklahoma State before transferring to SMU, and was a four-time All-American and won the Southwest Conference individual title in 1996. In 2018, Kuehne was inducted into the SMU Athletics Hall of Fame.

He earned medalist honors at the 1998 U.S. Amateur and was selected for the 1998 Eisenhower Trophy team and the 1998 and 1999 Palmer Cup teams. Golf Digest ranked Kuehne the world's No. 1 amateur in 1999.

Kuehne went on to play 11 years on the PGA Tour where he registered eight top-10 finishes, including runner-up honors at the 2003 Shell Houston Open and the 2005 John Deere Classic. In 2003, he broke John Daly's eight-year streak as the tour's driving distance champion.

Kuehne joins his sister Kelli and brother Trip in the Hall of Fame. Kelli is a two-time U.S. Women's Amateur champion, while Trip won the 2007 U.S. Mid-Amateur.
