DALLAS (SMU) – Gabi Grobler and Nicole Stambo both registered postseason marks to lead the Mustangs on day two of the SMU Classic.

Grobler placed second in the 200-yard individual medley with a time that came in under the NCAA B standard. The 1:59.12 was also a career best for the Mustang, and improves her sixth place standing on the SMU all-time top performer list.

Stambo, the diving representative for the Mustangs, posted her second top-three finish of the event, this time on 3 meter. Her 302.75 was good for an NCAA Zone qualifying score and was just .10 outside of runner-up honors.

Both Ilektra Lebl and Olivia Grossklaus finished fourth in respective Championship Finals. Lebl covered the 500 freestyle distance in 4:52.31, while Grossklaus clocked a 2:00.52 in the 200-yard butterfly.

The Mustangs picked up their highest relay finish in the final event as Indra Vandenbussche, Johanna Gudmundsdottir, Alex Stevens and Valentina Becerra combined for a 1:32.28 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

SMU finished fifth in the team standings with 230 points. Michigan won the event for the first time since 2016 at 356. Louisville (334) earned runner-up honors, Missouri (284) finished third, Miami fourth (240) and Arizona (209) sixth.

The Mustangs return to action Friday, Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. when they face Metroplex rival TCU on the road.
