SMU Competes At Rivanna Romp In Virginia Sunday

DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU women's rowing team will compete in the Rivanna Romp, hosted by the University of Virginia in Earlysville, Va., Sunday at 12 p.m. ET/11 a.m. CT.
The 4,000-meter competition features crews from Virginia, Clemson, Duke, Louisville, Navy and North Carolina. SMU posted a pair of top-eight finishes in the Varsity 8+ race last season, with the number of boats in the race totaling more than 20.
This is SMU's second trip to the event, which features some of the top teams in the country. Five of the seven programs in the event finished the 2021 spring season either ranked or receiving votes in the Pocock/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Top 25 Poll, led by Virginia at No. 5. Duke was ranked No. 16, Navy was ranked No. 20, and Clemson was receiving votes. SMU finished the season ranked No. 10 after winning the program's first American Athletic Conference Championship and advancing to the NCAA Championships for the first time.
