The SMU women's swimming and diving team hosts the SMU Invitational Thursday-Saturday at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium. Competition will take place during three seasons each day, with live video available on PonyUp TV and results on SMUMustangs.com, the Meet Mobile App and Dive Meets.

Finals
Swimming finals will include four heats of each individual event; two Bonus, Consolation and Championship Final. Eight divers will advance to each final.

Last Time Out
The Mustangs improved to 2-0 in dual action after a 161-77 sweep over New Mexico State on Nov. 5.

Ilektra Lebl (500 free, 1,000 free), Gabi Grobler (200 IM, 200 breast) and Johanna Gudmundsdottir (50 free, 100 free) all picked up a pair of individual wins, while SMU won the 200 medley and 400 free relays.

Johanna Holloway and Nicole Stambo split diving wins to lead the event, with Holloway coming away with the win on 3 meter and Stambo on 1 meter. Both divers stayed above the NCAA Zone qualifying score on 3 meter, while Stambo once again hit the mark on 1 meter.

Conference Favorites
Gabi Grobler and Johanna Holloway swept American Athletic Conference Weekly awards after the Mustangs' dual-meet win at TCU.

Grobler won the 200-yard backstroke and 200-yard individual medley and placed second in the 100-yard backstroke. She also helped the Mustangs to a runner-up finish in the 200-yard medley relay.

Holloway led the field on 3 meter and finished second on 1 meter, posting NCAA Zone scores in both events.

This is already the second honor of the season for Grobler and third career honor for both.

Making The Cut
Valentina Becerra and Gabi Grobler posted their first NCAA B Cuts of the season at the SMU Classic. Becerra's 53.36 in the 100-yard butterfly gave her the first NCAA standard of her career and makes her the ninth fastest performer all time in the program. Grobler's 1:59.12 in the 200 IM came in under the mark and makes her the sixth fastest performer in program history.

On the diving side, Johanna Holloway and Nicole Stambo both have NCAA Zone Scores on 1 and 3 meter.

League Leaders
The Mustangs lead The American in 10 of 13 individual swimming events this season and four of five relays. They also have 23 top-three individual times, including all three in a pair of events (50 free, 200 fly).

Vote Getters
The Mustangs are listed among those receiving votes in the 2021-22 College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Top 25 Division I Preseason Poll.

All-American Returners
Five members of the SMU women's swimming and diving program earned College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America honors for their work in the pool and in the classroom following the 2020-21 season.

To be selected as a member of the CSCAA Scholar All-America first team as an individual, swimmers and divers must have achieved a grade-point-average of 3.50 or higher and have participated in their respective NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Honorable mention selections have similarly achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a "B" time standard or competed at their respective qualifying meets.

Three Mustang divers, who all competed at the NCAA Zone Diving Championships, picked up accolades, including Johanna Holloway, Taylor Ohlhauser and Nicole Stambo. On the swimming side, Olivia Grossklaus and Gabi Grobler were honored. The pair of captains combined for four total relay all-conference performances, while Grossklaus was the conference champion in the 200 fly.

Holt Hickman Outdoor Pool Is Coming To The Hilltop
With a $2.5M gift from the Hickman family, SMU will soon break ground for a new eight-lane, 50-meter by 25-yard outdoor pool, with 1- and 3-meter diving boards. The $11M project will also include a 20-foot by 40-foot instructional pool that will be used for lessons and rehab/therapy. The addition of the outdoor pool will complete the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center, making SMU the only University in the country with both indoor and outdoor Olympic pools in one facility, further cementing SMU's swimming and diving facility as one of the finest in college athletics.

American Championships Return to Dallas
For the second consecutive year, SMU will host the American Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships. The event is set to take place Feb. 16-19, 2022 at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium.
