DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU women's swimming and diving team continues to lead in the team standings after two nights of the SMU Invitational. The three-day event is being held at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium.
The Mustangs lead in the team standings with 709 points, while Drury (465) and Hawaii (459) round out the top three.
Ilektra Lebl led the field by nearly three seconds to take the 400-yard individual medley title. Her 4:16.13 was good not only for the win, but also an NCAA B cut and meet record, and makes her the seventh fastest performer all-time at SMU.
Johanna Holloway was the Mustangs' highest finisher in diving action, earning runner-up honors on 3 meter with a six-round 327.95. Teammate
Jaclynn Fowler was third (299.25), with both hitting the NCAA Zone mark.
SMU's 200-yard medley relay team of
Gabi Grobler,
Maddy Lewis,
Valentina Becerra and
Indra Vandenbussche clocked a meet-record 1:40.40 to win the opening event, while the 800-yard freestyle relay of Lebl, Vandenbussche,
Olivia Grossklaus and
Janelle Gursoy also posted a winning meet record time of 7:20.73.
The final day of action takes place Saturday with the 1,650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, platform and 400 free relay.
