HUMBLE, Texas – Receiving votes in the initial Women's Golf Coaches' Association poll of the season, SMU's women's golf team heads to the Icon Invitational, hosted by the University of Houston at the Golf Club of Houston, February 22-23. The 54-hole tournament begins with a 36-hole day Monday.

The loaded 15-team field includes eight of the current top 25 in the WGCA poll, and three more teams that are receiving votes in the poll released Friday. No. 1 Baylor, No. 3 LSU, No. 8 Oklahoma State, No. 14 Kent State, No. 16 Houston, No. 19 Northwestern, No. 20 Texas and No. 25 Michigan State are the ranked teams in the field. SMU, TCU, and Texas Tech are the teams receiving votes in the field. North Texas, Purdue, Texas A&M and Texas State are the only participants not receiving votes in the field.

Kennedy Pedigo leads the Mustangs' five-woman lineup at the former host of the PGA Tour's Houston Open. Last week, Pedigo led the Mustangs by tying for 19th at the Rebel Beach Invitational.

Serena Shah is in the SMU lineup for the first time this season, after a resilient appearance as an individual in Las Vegas. Shah recovered from an 11-over start through nine holes to play the final 45 of the event at +4. She co-led the tournament with a -1 total on the par 3s at Spanish Trail Country Club.

A trio of Mustang freshman, Ashley Chow, Megan Chou and Nicole Vivier, round out the lineup at the par 72 / 6,247-yard routing. Chow enters the event after finishing in the top-40 in both of her collegiate events. Vivier and Chou had strong collegiate debuts at the Trinity Forest Invitational, with Vivier tying for 11th and Chou tying for 23rd.

Maddi Olson also competes in the event as an individual, her second collegiate tournament after competition in the Trinity Forest Invitational.

Live scoring for the event is available on Golfstat. After this event, the Mustangs head to San Antonio for the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational, hosted by UTSA.
