HUMBLE, Texas – SMU's
Kennedy Pedigo notched her second consecutive top-20 finish, tying for 19
th at even par at the Icon Invitational at the Golf Club of Houston. Her 54-hole score of even par is the best by a Mustang this season, and her best individual 54-hole score since October 2019.
Pedigo, who went under-par in the tournament's first two rounds, shot a 3-over 75 to close play Tuesday. Pedigo held steady after an opening double-bogey, and did not drop another stroke for another 11 holes. She finished the event with a -6 score on par-5s, the second-best mark in the tournament, and a team-high nine birdies.
No. 1 Baylor won the event, which featured six ranked teams, at -24. SMU had an 8-over 296 Tuesday, and finished the event in 12
th at +29. Medalist honors went to Rina Tatematsu of Oklahoma State at -14.
Ashley Chow had her best round as a collegian, traversing the par 72 layout by Rees Jones at even par. Chow birdied No. 14 and No. 16 on the way to her first career par-or-better round, and finished the tournament at +5, tying for 40
th. In three collegiate events, Chow has finished either 39
th or 40
th each time.
Nicole Vivier had a final-round 73 that featured four birdies—more than doubling her birdie output for the tournament. Vivier tied for 61
st at +12.
Serena Shah's day was highlighted by two birdies on the way to a 4-over 76, finishing the event tied for 67
th at +16. After driving down the right-hand side on No. 6, a 362-yard par-4, she flipped a wedge from 105 yards out to within four feet of the flag, and made her birdie putt.
Megan Chou finished 69
th at +17, shooting a final-round 77. Playing as an individual,
Maddi Olson signed for an 84, sitting in 75
th on the leaderboard at +28.
The Mustangs take to the course again March 9-10 for the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational at San Antonio Country Club, hosted by UTSA.
