CARLSBAD, Calif. (SMU) – SMU women's golf finished in a tie for 12
th place at the NCAA Championship at Omni La Costa Resort to wrap up their impressive season.
The Mustangs came into the day in a tie for 13
th place needing a spot in the top 8 to make it to match -play on Tuesday. The team shot 13-over in the final and fourth round to move up one spot into a tie for 12
th. The Mustangs made the three-day 15-team cut after shooting 10-over across the first three days. This marked the Mustangs second time in the top 13 of the NCAA Championship in the last four years. They've made it to the NCAA's top tournament in three of four seasons.
Kirra St-Laurent led the Mustangs at the NCAAs with a four-over performance across four days. She carded a round of 71 on the first day and even par 72 on the third day. The freshman finished in a tie for 34
th.She finished her season with a 73.41 scoring average, third best by a Mustang freshman.
One shot back of St-Laurent,
Grace Jin shot five-over in the four-day tournament. She finished in a tie for 40
th with her best round of the tournament in round four with a 71. She finished the season with a 73.00 scoring average.
Emily Odwin and
Mackenzie Lee shared the team lead in scoring on the season with a 71.84 scoring average. Lee shot a 78 during the final round to end the tournament at seven-over par in 46
th place. She finished her fourth and senior season at SMU with a 71.54 scoring mark, tops all-time by a Mustang. She holds 13 SMU records.
Odwin wrapped up her senior season with a 72.22 scoring mark across three seasons on the Hilltop, second best by a Mustang trailing only Lee. She finished in a tie for 68
th at the Championship with a final round 68.
Celine Chen finished in a tie for 76
th at 14-over par. Her season scoring mark of 72.53 is eighth best by a Mustang.
During the 2025-26 season, the five primary Mustangs each posted a top 16 all-time season at SMU. The team won a regional title and continued that strong play into the NCAA Championship. The 287.39 strokes per round was second best in Mustang history. The team finished in the top four at a tournament nine times with five top twos.
