SMU women's tennis faces a pair of midweek matches starting with a road match against No. 33 Texas Tech on Tuesday followed by a home match against Cincinnati on Thursday.

The Mustangs are currently on six-match winning streak and fresh off an AAC win over Tulane. The match between the Red Raiders and Mustangs is slated for 11 a.m. The Cincinnati and SMU match is slated for 5 p.m. from the SMU Tennis Complex.

Jackie Nylander and
Hadley Doyle defeated a ranked opponent in the latest win over a Tulane, while Doyle posted a ranked win in singles against the Green Wave.

-The Mustangs' six-match winning streak is the longest since another six-match winning streak to begin the 2020 season. Â
-For the second consecutive week, the Mustangs are receiving votes in the latest ITA top-50. The new set of rankings come out on Wednesday.

Jackie Nylander has been playing majority of line one for the Mustang. She has a 7-4 record with two matches coming against ranked opponents. She is on a four-match winning streak.

Hadley Doyle leads the Mustang with 10 singles win this season. Doyle for the Mustang lead with seven singles match victories. Doyle was named American Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week after she knocked off No. 83 of LSU. She posted another ranked win in the Mustangs latest victory over Tulane. She has a 10-4 record on the season including 8-3 at the top two lines.

Chandler Carter are tied for the team lead with a five doubles victories together. They have a perfect 5-0 record.
 - All six Mustang losses are against teams ranked in the ITA top-32, No. 2 Texas, No. 12 Baylor, No. 19 LSU, No. 25 Texas A&M, No. 20 Arkansas and No. 32 Oklahoma.

ABOUT TEXAS TECH
The Red Raiders have a 9-3 record on the season and are ranked No. 33 in the country, most recently, they posted a pair of Big 12 wins over Kansas and Kansas State, both sweeps. The Red Raiders three losses have come to Baylor, Oklahoma and Rice. Kaitlin Staines is ranked No. 100 in singles for Texas Tech and teams with Nell Miller for the 43
rd-ranked doubles pairing in the country.
ABOUT CINCINNATI
The Bearcats have a 2-5 record on the season with wins over Northern Kentucky and Northern Illinois. In the shortened 2020 campaign, the Bearcats posted a 7-6 record. Cincinnati will take on Houston on Tuesday before traveling north to take on the Mustangs. Â

DOYLE NAMED AAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Hadley Doyle was named American Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week after her ranked win against LSU. Doyle defeated No. 83 Safiya Carrington of LSU in straight sets on Saturday, 6-2, 6-3 for her first ranked win as a Mustang. It was Doyle's team-high fifth dual match singles victory during the season. The sophomore's earned wins at each of the top three lines.

ITA REGION ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

Jackie Nylander was named the 2020 Texas Region Rookie of the Year by the ITA. Nylander was a key contributor to SMU's shortened 9-5 season, playing on court one in both singles and doubles winning three ranked matchups. She was also named SMU Female Newcomer of the Year. Nylander was the first Mustang to earn the ITA honor.Â
NCAA APR Award
SMU Women's Tennis earned a Public Recognition Award for its latest multi-year NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rates (APR). The program earned the award for scoring in the top 10 percent nationally for its sport through the 2018-19 academic year (data from 2015-16 through 2018-19). The APR is an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation, and provides a measure of each team's academic performance. SMU has 16 APR Public Recognition Awards since the 2004-05 academic year.
