No. 8 SMU hosts its second of three doubleheaders this season on Friday and Saturday at the Dallas Equestrian Center. The Mustangs will take on No. 2 TCU on March 5 at 10 a.m. CT and No. 5 Fresno State on March 6 at 10 a.m. CT.

LAST TIME OUT
In its last competition, SMU fell to then-No. 7 TCU in Fort Worth with a final score of 12-6. The Mustangs won the Reining event 2-1 and came back to Dallas with two MOPs. Nya Kearns earned the honor in Horsemanship and Dani Latimer won her third MOP of the season in Reining. SMU earned two points in Fences and one in each the Flat and Horsemanship events.

SERIES HISTORY
SMU and TCU have faced off 20 times in program history, with SMU winning nine matchups. The two have competed twice a year during the past five seasons and have split wins each time. The Mustangs are 5-2 when playing in Dallas, with the last home win coming in February of 2020. Earlier this spring, the Mustangs fell 12-6 to the Horned Frogs in Fort Worth.

SMU and Fresno State have met 19 times between regular season and postseason matchups. The Bulldogs hold an 11-8 series lead despite the Mustangs winning four of the last five meets. During the 2019-20 season, SMU fell in Fresno, 11-8, while taking home three MOP honors. The Mustangs are 6-4 when playing Fresno State in Dallas.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
TCU has started the season with a strong 4-1, with its only loss coming at Baylor with a 10-9 final score. The Horned Frogs defeated then-No. 2 Oklahoma State, 14-5, in their last matchup and won two of the four MOPs. This season's other three wins have come against South Dakota State, UT Martin and SMU.

Fresno State has competed twice this season and defeated UC Davis twice. The Bulldogs won the first matchup 10-9 and the second 12-8. They will head to Fort Worth on Sunday for neutral site meets against Oklahoma State and Baylor, which were originally scheduled for February.

THIS WEEK'S LINEUP
SMU's lineups for competition against both TCU and Fresno State will be the same. The Flat lineup consists of Madigan Eppink, Taylor Madden, Miranda Seade and Olivia Woodson. In Fences, Taylor Madden, Alex Pielet, Devin Seek and Olivia Woodson will be competing. Horsemanship will feature Aubrey Alderman, Nya Kearns, Mallory Vroegh and Megan Waldron. The Reining lineup of Aubrey Alderman, Dani Latimer, Jill Pfisthner and Taylor Zimmerman wraps up SMU's side of the drawsheet.

50 WINS FOR CAROL GWIN
Head coach Carol Gwin earned her 50th win at SMU when the Mustangs defeated South Dakota State at home on Jan. 29. Since starting at SMU in 2014, she has led SMU to two 10-win seasons, two conference championships and a national Reining runner-up title. Gwin has coached six NCEA First Team All-Americans, an NCEA Rider and two Co-Riders of the Year and countless Conference Riders of the Year and All-Conference riders. In 2018 and 2019, she was named back-to-back UEC Coach of the Year after sharing the title as Co-Coach of the Year in 2017.

ATTENDANCE POLICY
The Dallas Equestrian Center will allow fans to be in attendance for SMU's equestrian meets, however ONLY student-athletes and event staff will be allowed in the barn. All fans will be required to wear masks and distance from others while observing the arenas. Fans are permitted to bring their own food and beverages to the facility and are encouraged to bring their own seating. Appropriate restrooms will be provided.

This policy is subject to change throughout the season, especially in the event of inclement weather. The decision to not allow any fans may be made very close to meet day, so please plan travel accordingly.

SMU hosts another doubleheader March 12 and 13, playing Lynchburg in a jumping seat only meet on Friday and Baylor on Saturday. Both meets are scheduled to start at 10 a.m. CT.
