MERRITT Island, Fla. – No. 20 SMU swept No. 8 Iowa on Thursday evening winning in every boat. The 1^st Varsity 8 finished at the 6:14 mark ahead of Hawkeyes by four seconds. The 2^nd Varsity 8 took down Iowa in the second race by eight seconds. In the varsity four two boats competed for the Mustangs. The first V4 took first place with a time of 7:18. Iowa came in second at the 7:33 mark, while the second SMU V4 finished at 7:41. 

The Mustangs competed for the first time since February 29, 2020 and began the 2021 campaign in winning fashion.

The Mustangs will race against Iowa again on Sunday.
