SMU Track & Field heads to Austin on Friday and Saturday for the Texas Invite, the final meet of the regular season.
Â
The meet begins on Friday at 4:30 p.m. from the Myers Track & Field Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas. The meet wraps up with Saturday action from 11:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
Â
Last time out, the Mustangs posted two program top-10s at the Sooner Classic. Olivia Dobson scored 5130 points in the Heptathlon, the fifth best in program history. Dobson is currently ranked in the top-10 in the conference in three separate individual events, one of just eight AAC athletes with that distinction. The other seven athletes have all their top-10 marks in either throwing or running events exclusively, while Dobson's come in Long Jump, Javelin and Heptathlon.
Atipa Mabonga set a personal best in Norman with a jump of 13.02 in the triple jump, the fifth Mustang to break the 13.00 threshold. She currently sits at third best in the conference.
Â
Funminiyi Olajide leads the conference in the long jump with a best distance of 6.30m set back at the Longhorn Invite in March. Her mark was second best in program history.
Â
Ashton Woods ranks second in the conference with a best time of 58.31 in the 400 hurdles. She set the program record in the first meet of the season and proceeded to break her own record two more times. Her top time ranks 25th in the country.
Â
The NCAA West Prelims are set for May 27-29 in College Station. The top 48 student-athletes in the region in each event (other than the Heptathlon – top 24) will be accepted along with the top 24 relay teams.
