SMU women's tennis hosts No. 29 Texas Tech for Senior Day on Thursday in the final home match of the regular season. The Mustangs then head to Houston to take on No. 37 Rice on Saturday and Houston on Sunday.
Last weekend, the Mustang knocked off a pair of ranked teams to improve to 17-8 on the season. SMU defeated No. 50 TCU for the first time since 2011 in a Friday road matchup, 4-3. On Sunday, the Mustangs knocked off No. 49 Tulsa, 4-2, to improve to 5-1 in conference play. The Mustangs have won 13 of their last 15 matches.
The Mustangs will honor a pair of Seniors on Thursday,
Chandler Carter and
Cameron Teller.

Claudia Bartolome was named American Athletic Conference Player Of the Week after her perfect week against a pair of ranked teams, No. 50 TCU and No. 49 Tulsa. Bartolome came back from down 1-4 in the third set to clinch the victory over the Golden Hurricane on Sunday. Bartolome has an 11-7 record on the season. Bartolome and partner

Hadley Doyle and
Jackie Nylander were ranked No. 46 in the latest ITA doubles ranking. The pairing has a 10-4 record, all at line one including a ranked win in the Mustangs' victory over Tulane. They were leading the ranked pairing against Tulsa before the Mustangs clinched the doubles point on other courts.
-Nylander sits at No. 90 in the ITA Singles rankings. She has a 10-8 record on the season while playing solely at line one. Earlier this season, Nylander was named AAC Player of the Week after she posted three line one wins along with a 2-1 doubles record including a ranked victory.

Hadley Doyle leads the Mustang with 16 singles win this season. She has won 11 of her last 12 decisions. Doyle was named American Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week after she knocked off No. 83 of LSU. She posted two more ranked wins in the Mustangs victory over Tulane and the loss to No. 18 UCF. Doyle has a perfect 5-0 record against the conference.
-Nine different Mustangs have at least three singles wins this season.

Winslow Huth tops all Mustang freshman with nine singles wins on the season. She provided the clinching win on the last remaining court in the Mustangs road victory over No. 50 TCU. Recently, she has teamed with
Nicole Petchey for a 7-3 record in doubles. Huth has a 5-1 record in conference singles action.

Nicole Petchey is second on the team with 13 singles wins. She has won her last nine completed matches.

Avery Hilbig made her Mustang singles debut in March and helped the Mustangs during their six-match winning streak. The freshman has posted a 3-1 record in singles.

Kiana Graham has seen action at lines four through six throughout the season. She has a 5-3 record.
-SMU has posted a 12-8 record at line one singles and a 28-14 mark at the top two lines. In doubles, the Mustangs have a 13-8 record at line one.
- All eight Mustang losses are against teams currently ranked in the ITA top-33, No. 2 Texas, No. 10 Baylor, No. 11 LSU, No. 18 UCF, No. 20 Texas A&M, No. 25 Oklahoma, No. 28 Arkansas and No. 29 Texas Tech.
-The Mustangs' six-match winning streak earlier in the season matched the longest since another six-match winning streak to begin the 2020 season.
ABOUT TEXAS TECH
The Red Raiders have a 13-5 record on the season with five wins over ranked teams.. Last time out, the Red Raiders beat Oklahoma and Oklahoma State and lost to Tulsa on their trip through Oklahoma. Tech also faces TCU during its stay in DFW. Margartia Skriabrina has a 17-1 record on the season and is ranked No. 58 by the ITA. Kaitlin Staines is ranked No. 124. Staines and Mays form the nation's 32
nd ranked doubles pairing. Texas Tech knocked off SMU in the meeting earlier this season.
ABOUT RICE
Rice is ranked No. 37 in the country as of the last ITA Tennis Rankings. The Owls have a perfect 10-0 record on their home courts. They've notched wins against Texas Tech, Arizona State and Tulane. Linda Huang is ranked No. 67 in the country with a 6-3 record. The pairing of Diae El Jardi and Maria Budin have an 11-4 record on line one this season for the Owls with three ranked wins.
ABOUT HOUSTON
Houston is 12-5 on the season with a 3-1 record in conference play. They've put together wins against Tulane, Wichita State and Cincinnati in conference play. Last time out, the Cougars lost 4-0 to a top-10 Texas team. The team plays a Friday doubleheader with Prairie View A&M before taking on the Mustangs.

The Mustangs head to Denton for a road match with North Texas in the final regular season match. The American Athletic Conference Championships begins on April 21st from Orlando, Florida.
ITA REGION ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
Jackie Nylander was named the 2020 Texas Region Rookie of the Year by the ITA. Nylander was a key contributor to SMU's shortened 9-5 season, playing on court one in both singles and doubles, winning three ranked matchups. She was also named SMU Female Newcomer of the Year. Nylander was the first Mustang to earn the ITA honor.
NCAA APR Award
SMU Women's Tennis earned a Public Recognition Award for its latest multi-year NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rates (APR). The program earned the award for scoring in the top 10 percent nationally for its sport through the 2018-19 academic year (data from 2015-16 through 2018-19). The APR is an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation, and provides a measure of each team's academic performance. SMU has 16 APR Public Recognition Awards since the 2004-05 academic year.
