Traylor, Matthews Named To 2021 Pocock All-American Team

SPOKANE, Wash. - The 2021 Pocock All-America Team was announced on Thursday. Two Mustangs were named to the list after competing at a high level during an historic season. Juliet Traylor was named Second Team All-America, while Peyton Matthews was selected as Honorable Mention, marking the first accolade for both athletes. Traylor and Matthews become the third and fourth Mustangs in program history to be named All-American, joining Savannah Moody (2017) and Ashley Luther (2006).
Traylor and Matthews were both a part of Varsity Eight boat that was named the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Boat of the Year and was a two-time conference Boat of the Week award winner. The Mustangs Varsity Eight won the conference title and finished 13th overall at the NCAA Championships.

2021 All-America Complete List
Each year the coaches of the CRCA recognize the outstanding student athletes in each Division. Criteria for the award include:
- The student-athlete must meet all eligibility rules as defined by her institution.
- The student-athlete must have rowed at least 75% of the season's races in the varsity boat
- The student-athlete must be nominated by her institution
- The Head Coach of the student-athlete's institution must be a member in good standing of the CRCA.
All-American athletes are selected from those athletes already named First-Team All-Region. Criteria considered for selection include: boat performance, nomination rank, coach's comments, individual achievements, and 2k erg score.
SMU women's rowing capped off a record-breaking 2020-21 season with the highest Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) national ranking in program history (No. 10), first ever American Athletic Conference Championship and first bid to the NCAA Championships.
