ABOUT SMU
•    No. 24 SMU is 4-1 this season, with the only loss coming in overtime at Baylor. 
•    SMU has two wins against teams receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll. 
•    The Mustangs are 2-0-0 at home, including a win against Oklahoma State, which was receiving votes in the top-25 poll at the time of the victory.
•    SMU split a pair of conference matches in the Spring of 2021, its only two matches of the season.
•    The Mustangs have posted three clean sheets. 
•    Five different players have seven assists on eight goals by six Mustangs, including three unassisted. 
•    SMU has been outshot 71-52 overall and 30-22 in shots on goal. 

GOALKEEPING
•    Samantha Estrada started the season off with a clean sheet against Northwestern State. She has seven saves in three matches this season.
•    Tatum Sutherland had 10 saves for a clean sheet against Oklahoma State, the most since Shannon Moroney had 11 at Connecticut in 2015.

GOALS, GOALS, GOALS
•     SMU has scored at least once in all five matches this season. 
•    The Mustangs scored a season-high four goals in a 4-2 win at Denver, the most since a 4-0 win against ECU on Oct. 22, 2019.
•    SMU has scored nine times with seven assists. 
•    Courtney Sebazco leads the team with three goals, including gamewinners against Rice and Northwestern State.
•    Wayny Balata, Elisabeth Tse, Jasmine Vilgrain, Lindsey Whitmore and Payton Doiron have each scored once.
•    Sebazco and Balata each have two assists, while Tse, Vilgrain and Whitmore all have one this season. 

LAST TIME OUT
•     SMU won 1-0 at Rice. It was the second straight win against an opponent receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll.
•    Courtney Sebazco scored on a penalty kick in the 79th minute. 
•     Tatum Sutherland started and made five saves before coming out due to injury after 70 minutes. Samantha Estrada played the final 20 minutes with three saves. 

AT HOUSTON BAPTIST
•     SMU was scheduled to start the season Aug. 19 at Houston Baptist, but the match was canceled due to poor field conditions in Houston. 

SCOUTING SAN FRANCISCO
•    The Dons are 3-2-1 overall and 1-2 on the road, losing to Stanford and California.
•    All three wins came via shutout, while San Francisco was held scoreless in both losses (1-0). 
•    Sydney Cooper and Kenna Roth lead the team with two goals each, while Marissa Vasquesz has a goal and two assists.
•    Molly Eby has 31 saves in six matches, allowing four goals. Megan Nail has four saves in 90 minutes over two matches.

SERIES HISTORY
•     This is just the second match between the Mustangs and the Dons.
•    The first match occured on Oct. 8, 1995 in Moraga, Calif. 
•    SMU won 2-1 in overtime. 

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
•     Three Mustangs earned American Athletic Conference Weekly awards on Sept. 13, 2021. SMU went 3-0 for the week, with two wins against opponents receiving votes in the to-25 poll.
•    Courtney Sebazco was named Offensive Player of the Week after scoring a goal with two assists, contributing to three of SMU's six goals.
•    Payton Doiron was named Defensive Player of the Week. She played all 90 minutes in the three wins, including two shutouts. She also scored the lone goal in a win against Oklahoma State.
•    Tatum Sutherland was named Goalkeeper of the Week. She started two games, earning two clean sheets. She recorded 10 saves against Oklahoma State, the most since Shannon Moroney had 11 on Oct. 25, 2015. Sutherland had five saves against Rice before coming off due to injury after 70 minutes. 
•    Sebazco was named to the weekly honor roll after scoring twice in the season opener against Northwestern State. 

COACHING CORNER
•     Chris Petrucelli is in his 10th season as head coach at SMU and his 32nd season overall. 
•    Petrucelli is one of eight active coaches to win a national championship (Notre Dame, 1995).
•    Petrucelli started the season ranked seventh among active head coaches with 416 career wins.

•    The Mustangs played a program-high 10 overtime matches in 2002, going 3-3-4 in extra time. 
•    The Mustangs are 0-1-0 in overtime this season.

2021 AAC ALL-PRESEASON TEAM
