DALLAS (SMU) – SMU men's golf sits in second place at six under after the opening round of the Trinity Forest Invitational. The SMU "B" squad is tied for fourth place after its four-under performance on Sunday at the Mustangs' home course of Trinity Forest Golf Club.

Nathan Petronzio (-4, 68) leads the Mustangs with a four-under 68, good for a tie for second place after Sunday's round. Petronzio put together a birdie free front nine, aiding his final total of 68. Also in second place, junior
Holden Wisener (-4, 68), representing SMU's "B" team, posted a four-under score after an impressive score of 31 on his first nine holes. Wisener eagled two of three holes during a stretch of play on holes 14 through 16.

Dawson Ovard (-3, 69) started the day with a pair of birdies on his way to carding a three-under 69. Ovard sits in a tie for eighth place. Freshman William Sides (E, 72) rallied with a three-under back-nine to card an even round on the day. Sides holds a share of 24th place.

Zachary Kingsland (+1, 73) put together a one-over day, good for a tie for fortieth place. Graduate senior
Justin Thompson (+3, 75) finished the day in a tie for 64th place.

Christian Clark (+1, 71) started his day with an eagle and finished in a tie for 18th after an under-par performance.Â
J. Holland Humphries (E, 72) shot even par on the day and holds a share of 24th place.

The Mustangs return to the course on Monday for round two at 9:20 a.m. with the main squad paired with Little Rock and Furman and the B squad paired with Baylor and Florida Atlantic.
