DALLAS (SMU) – The No. 1 SMU Equestrian team closes out its fall slate with back-to-back meets starting Friday against Delaware State and Saturday versus No. 9 UC Davis. 

UP TO THIS POINT
•    No. 1 SMU is 2-0 after collecting back-to-back ranked victories. The Mustangs started the season taking down then-No. 1 Oklahoma State 10-9 on the road. Most recently, SMU took down eighth-ranked Baylor 13-6 in Dallas.

ABOUT THE MUSTANGS
•    The Mustangs are coming off their fourth consecutive conference championship and second straight ECAC title in 2021-22, in a year that saw four NCEA All-America selections. 
•     Dani Latimer received the Reining MOP at the 2021-22 NCEA Championships. Nine Mustangs claimed ECAC postseason honors, including two Rider of the Year honors, one Freshman Rider of the Year title, and six All-Conference selections. The Mustangs took down second-ranked Auburn in convincing fashion, 12-8, to advance to the NCEA semifinals for the second consecutive year.
•     The Mustangs return all but two starters from last season's semifinal team. SMU is competing as an Independent in 2022-23.

IN THE RANKINGS
•     For the third consecutive week, the Mustangs checked in at No. 1 in the NCEA Dual Displine Rankings. 

THE SERIES
•    SMU has won three consecutive meets against Delaware State dating back to the 2017 season. The Mustangs are 13-6 all-time against the Hornets.
•    SMU is undefeated against UC Davis. The Mustangs are 3-0 against the Aggies dating back to the 2018 season.
