DALLAS, Texas (SMU) -- SMU Track and Field will open up their season this weekend at two meets – one at Air Force and one at Boston University. These December meets will provide opportunities for the Mustangs to see where they stand after a semester of pre-season training.Â
"The entire team is excited to compete this weekend," Head Coach A'Havahla Haynes said. "The women are positive, focused and have worked hard. They have the potential to put out marks that top the conference list."Â
Sprinters and jumpers will head to Colorado Springs to compete at Air Force's Holiday Open meet, which starts at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 2. Senior Whitney Williams said she is feeling really good headed into this first meet of the season.Â
"Training has been going well, and I feel prepared," Williams said. "Hopefully, it'll be a good start to my senior season."Â
Five distance athletes will be competing at Boston University's Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener. The athletes competing in Boston will be Kaitlyn Gearin, Maddie Hulcy, Macey Hilton, Lior Kremer, and Alanis Robineau-Fauvey. Action will start at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 3.Â
"As a program, this early season opener provides an opportunity to give full effort after fall prep and a cross country season," Haynes said. "The results will then provide a guideline on adjustments that are necessary to reach the overall team goals."Â
