MIAMI (SMU) – Annabelle Corcoran led the Mustangs with a top-10 finish at the CSCAA College Open Water National Championship on Sunday. The 5K race, hosted by FIU in Biscayne Bay, featured four Mustangs.

Corcoran covered the distance in 58:52.46 with a pace of 18:57 to finish 10th in the 110-swimmer field.

As a team, the Mustangs finished sixth overall of 21 teams.

Corcoran was one of two Mustangs to finish in the top 20 as Julianna Penner came in at 1:00.08.29, which was good for 16th.

Frederica Kizek finished 33rd overall at 1:01.02.77 and Mya VanderHagen 81st with a time of 1:04.57.06.

Participation in the event was limited to current NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA member institutions.

Up next, Mustang divers head to the Georgia Diving Invite Jan. 3-5. SMU returns to the pool as a team Jan. 13-14 when it hosts Tulane, UNT and Rice.
