TAMPA, FLA. (SMU) –
SMU women's tennis (4-2, 1-0 AAC) claimed its second all-time, and second-consecutive win at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts on Sunday in a 4-3 win over USF (1-5, 0-1 AAC) in Tampa.

In doubles play, Lana Mavor/Lexi Keberle claimed a 6-4 win over USF's Grace Schumacher/Margriet Timmermans. After leading as far as 4-1 on line two, the USF pair climbed back to a one-set deficit at 5-4, before the Mustang duo closed the set with a 40-15 win in the final game that included an impressive backhand save from Mavor to close the match. Mavor/Keberle's doubles record in dual play improves to 2-1 on the season.

Claudia Bartolome and Jackie Nylander's 6-4 victory sealed the doubles point for the Mustangs, improving their dual record to 2-2. SMU is 4-2 in doubles to open dual play.

Graduate senior Nicole Petchey earned a 6-0, 6-1 straight-set victory on court six, pushing the Mustang's lead to 2-0 on the day. Petchey held USF's Kiana Mokhtari winless through the first ten games on the way to a win, improving her dual singles record to 2-1.

On line five, Bartolome traded wins with Timmermans through the open of the first set, leading to a 3-3 tally. Bartolome proceeded to win three straight to take the opening set. After starting 1-1 to open the second, Bartolome claimed the following five straight games, sealing a 6-3, 6-1 win and improving the graduate senior's dual singles record to 4-1 on the year.

Junior Lana Mavor's team-win-clinching 6-2, 6-2 win against USF's Amiele Boy improved her dual singles record to 2-2. In both sets, Mavor raced to a 3-0 lead before her USF opposition was able to claim a win, allowing Mavor to cruise to her first straight-set win of the spring season.

UCF's Laura Pellicer defeated junior Jackie Nylander 7-5, 6-2, and Sierra Berry closed out junior Hadley Doyle 6-1, 6-3.

On line one, graduate senior Lexi Keberle won 6-2 in her opening set against USF's Grace Shumacher, who then responded with a 6-3 win of her own to force a deciding third-set tiebreaker. Schumacher claimed the match win, defeating Keberle 10-6 in the final set and ending the final match of the day.

The Mustangs complete their four-week road trip with Feb. 18th and 19th matches against Baylor and Mississippi State, respectively, in Waco.
