PHOENIX (SMU) – After three rounds in two days, the Mustangs concluded the GCU Invite in third place out of 20 teams with an overall score of +2. Maddi Olson finished the tournament two strokes under par and set a career best tied for second place individual finish. SMU fell just six strokes short of tournament winning Grand Canyon (-5) and one stroke short of runner-up Santa Clara (+1). The Mustangs' +2 score marks SMU's seventh best 54-hole tournament versus par.

Olson led the way for the Mustangs with three outstanding rounds of golf. The sophomore set her career best 54-hole mark at -2, finishing the tournament with a -1 (71) round which included four birdies. Her second-place finish entailed even scoring on par 4s. She was also -4 on par 5s.

Kennedy Pedigo put up a 75 (+3) in her final round and finished the tournament at +3, tied for 14^th place. She was -3 on par 5s and racked up 7 birdies and an eagle over three rounds. Serena Shah also tied for 14^th, shooting 74 (+2) on the final day. She shot even on the back nine.

After playing her career best round on Monday (-5, 67), Ashley Chow finished the tournament at +5 and tied for 19^th. Katie James had her best round today with a -1 (71). She parred or birdied every hole from 3-18, and finished tied for 29^th individually.

The Mustangs will be back in action for their home tournament, the Trinity Forest Invitational, March 7-8. Results and live scoring will be available on Golfstat.

Olson Crushes Personal Records
Before today, Maddi Olson's best career finish was T45^th. She blew this record out of the water with her outstanding tournament, tying for second overall. She also beat her previous best 54-hole score of +14 by 16 strokes with her -2.
