Box Score

DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU women's tennis team earned a 5-2 win at Tulsa on Saturday, improving to 3-0 against league opponents and notching its first road win against Tulsa since Feb. 6, 2010.

After falling in a tiebreaker in her opening set, Jackie Nylander went 6-2, 6-1, clinching both her win over Tulsa's Maria Berlanga, and the Mustangs' team win. Berlanga's defeat marks just her second on line four of the dual season, entering Saturday's competition with a 6-1 record.

Graduate senior Lexi Keberle extended her singles win streak to five straight, downing Tulsa's Laia Conde Monfort 6-4, 6-1 for just her second loss of the dual season. With the win, Keberle's dual singles record improves to 9-3.

Nicole Petchey's 6-1 and 6-4 wins in her first and third sets handed Tulsa's Lian Benedejcic her first dual singles loss of the year. Benedejcic entered Saturday's contest 6-0 on line six, including dual wins against Purdue, Memphis, and Louisiana Tech.

Junior Hadley Doyle defeated Shura Poppe 6-0, 6-1, improving her SMU career singles record against Tulsa to 2-0.

Lana Mavor defeated Tulsa's Lily Hutchings 6-3, 6-3. Hutchins had won two of her last three singles matchups and boasted a 6-3 record prior to her loss against Mavor.

Nylander/Doyle remain unbeaten in dual doubles, improving to 4-0 with a 6-4 win over Berlanga/Valeryia Rozenkova, handing them their fourth loss, and first loss to an American Athletic Conference opponent this spring.

Head Coach Jeff Nevolo praised his team's focus through a tough open to the spring on the way to Saturday's victory:

"I'm really proud of our team for their efforts today," Nevolo said.  "We've had some tough losses recently, but they've stayed committed and their hard work this week showed in singles."

SMU (8-6, 3-0 AAC) opens the final leg of its two-match road trip on 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tulane.
