Mustangs Take Third Place At Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate

PAWLEYS ISLAND (SMU) – After three rounds of competition, the Mustangs finished the Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate in third place out of 17 teams with an overall score of +23. Serena Shah played an outstanding final round, shooting 69 (-3) to secure third place individually at -2 for the tournament. The co-champion individuals finished at -4. Coastal Carolina won the tournament at +7, followed by Incarnate Word at +11. SMU's third-place finish is tied for its second best of the year.
 
After birdieing the 18th last night, Shah got her morning off on the same foot, birdieing the first and second to start her round. The senior shot -2 (35) on the front nine including three birdies. She followed that up with a -1 back nine, tacking on two more birdies for a team high of five on the day. With a total score of 214 (-2), she tied her career lowest 54-hole total, and took third place for her highest finish of the season. Shah also led the field in par 4 scoring at -3 for the tournament.
 
Maddi Olson tied for second on the team with four birdies in her final round. The sophomore shot +2 (39) on the front and +3 (38) on the back. Three of her four birdies came between holes 10-15. She finished the tournament at +8 and took 13th individually. This was Olson's second-best career finish.
 
In her season debut, senior Megan Daleo tied for 14th overall at +9 with a strong tournament concluded by an even 72 final round. After a +2 (39) front, Daleo caught fire with three birdies on the back for a -2 (33). She tied Olson with four birdies, all coming on holes 9-18.
 
Also in her season debut, Nicole Vivier shot +2 (39), +3 (38) for a final round 77 (+5). Her two birdies came back-to-back on holes 10 and 11. The sophomore finished tied for 26th individually. Another sophomore, Ashley Chow, rounded out the field for SMU. Chow played her best round of the tournament today, shooting +2 (74). She was two-over on the front and even on the back. Her overall tournament score was +14, good for a tie for 32nd.
 
Back in Action
The Mustangs have a quick turnaround, as they travel to San Antonio for the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational April 5-6. The three-round tournament will be played at San Antonio Country Club and hosted by 51st ranked UTSA.
 
Analytical Breakdown:
- Shah led the field in par four scoring at -3, and was the only player under par
- Shah had the third highest individual birdie total with 12, just one off the co-leaders
- SMU had the third highest birdie total of 40
- The Mustangs finished third in par 3 scoring (+11) and par 5 scoring (E)
- Olson and Shah tied for fourth in par 5 scoring at -3
- Daleo and Vivier tied for fifth in par 3 scoring at E

- SMU's best hole of the tournament was the 476-yard par 5 10th, shooting a combined -7 with one bogey
- Throughout the tournament, SMU shot -6 on the 517-yard par 5 ninth, only recording one bogey
- All three rounds, all five Mustangs parred the par 3 132-yard 14th
