UNIVERSITY PLACE (SMU) – SMU women's golf will be competing in the Chamber's Bay Invitational April 11-12 in Washington. The Mustangs enter the tournament ranked No. 81 in the country according to Golfstat. The field is made up of 18 teams including No. 15 UCLA, No. 32 BYU, No. 50 Washington, No. 53 New Mexico, and No. 54 Denver. Chamber's Bay Golf Course plays 6,046 yards and is scored as a par 72. The teams will play two 18-hole rounds on Monday (April 11), followed by a final round on Tuesday (April 12).
Kennedy Pedigo,
Serena Shah,
Megan Daleo,
Maddi Olson, and
Katie James will play in the Mustangs' lineup. Pedigo has the lowest round this season for the Mustangs with a 67. Olson has the top finish of co-runner-up.
Last Time Out
SMU finished in sixth place out of ten teams at the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational in San Antonio last week. Pedigo led the Mustangs with an overall score of +11, finishing tied for 15
th place individually. Daleo and James tied for second best on the team at +12 (T19). Since entering the starting lineup at the AGT Intercollegiate, Daleo has made an immediate impact. The senior has finished tied for second and third on the team in her two outings so far this season.

Breakout in Phoenix
Maddi Olson put on a career performance at the GCU Invitational from February 28 to March 1. She blew her career best finish record out of the water with her outstanding tournament, tying for second overall. She also beat her previous best 54-hole score of +14 by 16 strokes with her -2 finish. The Mustangs finished third place in the 20-team field.
Playing the Best
The Mustang's spring schedule includes tournaments in Arizona, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Washington. They will enjoy trips to two of Golfweek's Top 200 Modern Courses; Trinity Forest and Chambers Bay Golf Club, the host of the 2015 Men's U.S. Open and the 2022 U.S. Women's Amateur.

Lauren Mason took over the program in July 2021, and led the Mustangs to a tournament win at the Badger Invitational in September. SMU came back with a final round -4 to take home their first title since March 2019.
Katie James and
Kennedy Pedigo finished the tournament tied for third with even par overall scores.
On & Off the Course
SMU women's golf achieved a cumulative fall GPA of 3.68.
Megan Daleo and
Nicole Vivier were also named to the Honor Roll for being in the top 15% academically among students at SMU last semester. Mason puts a large emphasis on her athlete's discipline both on and off the course.
