Eight SMU Rowers Named CRCA National Scholar-Athletes

DALLAS (SMU) – Eight SMU rowers were named National Scholar-Athletes by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) on Friday.
Earning the distinction are Macey Adley (Business Administration), Gracie Condon (History & Psychology), Anne Ensley (undeclared), Victoria Franklin (APSM/Sport Management), Sophie Hill (undeclared), Peyton Matthews (APSM/Sport Management), Hallie Wilson (Chemistry) and Sarah Wood (Biological Sciences).
Seniors Franklin and Wilson are now three-time honorees, also earning the award in 2021 and 2020.
All eight athletes were members of one of the four winning crews at the 2022 American Athletic Conference Championship, helping secure SMU's second straight sweep of the event and automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
Franklin and Matthews went on to row in the first varsity eight at NCAAs while Condon, Hill and Ensley were members of the second varsity eight. Both boats advanced to the petite finals, with the second eight finishing 10th overall nationally and first eight taking 11th.
To be named a CRCA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must carry a 3.50 cumulative GPA and be in their second, third, fourth or fifth year of eligibility. In addition, they must have rowed in the first eight, second eight or four in at least 75% of spring races, or at that season's conference championship.
