DALLAS (SMU) – The No. 1 SMU Equestrian team opens its spring slate Saturday against No. 9 UT Martin. Action is slated to begin at 10 a.m. at the Dallas Equestrian Center.

Up To This Point
No. 1 SMU closed out its fall state with an unblemished 4-0 record. The Mustangs started the season taking down then-No. 1 Oklahoma State 10-9 on the road followed by beating then eighth ranked Baylor 13-6 in Dallas. SMU closed out the fall in dominating fashion, taking down Delaware State 19-1 and UC Davis 14-6.

In The Rankings
SMU sits strong at No. 1 in the NCEA Dual Discipline Rankings entering the spring season.

Against Ranked Opponents
SMU is 3-0 against ranked opponents this season. The Mustangs defeated Oklahoma State (No. 1), Baylor (No. 8) and UC Davis (No. 9) in their fall slate.

The Series
SMU holds a 15-5 all-time record against UT Martin, including a perfect 5-0 record in Dallas. 
SMU has won nine out of the last 10 meetings against UT Martin dating back to 2016- 17.

"We are now in championship season so in my mind, the fall season, while amazing, was a warmup for the spring," head coach Carol Gwin said. "The team has a tough spring schedule with numerous road meets and we will need to utilize both our talent and focus to stay on top of our game.  I am excited to see what the spring season holds."
