Minnesota - 166

SMU is competing in the Atlantic Sun (ASUN) Conference this season and are the three-time American Athletic Conference champions.

So Far in the Water & Individual Highlights

The Mustangs are 3-0 this season and feature individual wins in the 200 medley relay, 400 free relay, 100 free, 500 free 1,000 free, 200 fly, 100 backstroke, among others.

Swimmer Jack Hoagland's Hoagland's time of 8:55.63 against OCU and UIW in the 1000 free ranked first in the nation and made him SMU's all-time fastest performer in the event.

At the SMU Classic, SMU finished day one in fifth place with a score of 117 and finished the event sitting in sixth place with 227 points.

Swimmer Hoagland's broke into two program top fives at the SMU Classic — he claimed the No. 4 SMU program spot and in the 400 IM with a B-Cut time of 3:45.39 — finishing the race in first place — and the No. 4 program spot in the 500 Free with a time of 4:17.60 — also a B-Cut Qualifying Time.

In the water against Minnesota, Sage Sungail beat his previous best time of 44.29 in the 100 free, finishing second in the event. He set a personal best time of 43.97 in the same event at the SMU Classic.

Junior Cotton Fields has already posted one B-Cut qualifying time so far this season, with Fields touching the wall in the 200 fly with a time of 1:45.77 against the Gophers.

So Far on the Boards

John Dymond finished sixth on 3 meter with a score of 288.85 in day one of the SMU Classic, also finishing sixth on 3 meter with a score of 279.85.

In the most recent dual meet, senior Tyler Coffey earned an NCAA Zone Mark with a score of 321.75 and finished second place in the 3 meter. John Dymond took third place on the same event — totaling off of six dives —  with a score of 275.78. Also on 3 meter, teammate Ethan Hunter claimed fifth place with a 244.80 score.

Dymond earned two top-three finishes, earning third in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. Dymond scored 273.30 and 289.05, respectively. His performance contributed a total of six points in SMU's eventual 185 to 166 win over the Gophers.

Conference Honors

Following the SMU Classic, Hoagland was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Swimmer of the Week, with diver Dymond being awarded Diver of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Hoagland earned the accolade for the second time in a row after earning the top time in the country by five seconds in the 1,000 free with a time of 8:55.93 against Incarnate Word and Oklahoma Christian. The time made him SMU's all-time fastest performer in the event.

As a result of Dymond's previously mentioned performances he has  earned his second ASUN Men's Diver of the Week honor. He assisted SMU in their win over Minnesota, who was receiving votes in the CSCAA Top 25.

Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium / Holt Hickman Outdoor Pool

The Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium is the 42,000 square foot home to SMU's internationally-recognized men's and women's swimming and diving teams. It opened in November of 2017.

The Aquatics Center features an Olympic-sized, eight-lane indoor pool with a platform diving area, including four springboards and a 10-meter tower for training and competition. Coaches' offices, men's, women's and visitor locker rooms and a classroom and meeting area are located adjacent to the pool. Spectator seating for 800 is on the mezzanine level.

To further cement this facility as one of the finest in college athletics, SMU is building an adjacent outdoor pool to further enhance this space. Project design includes an eight-lane, 50-meter by 25-yard outdoor pool, 1- and 3-meter diving boards and a 20-foot by 40-foot instructional pool that will be used for lessons and rehab/therapy. With the addition of the outdoor pool to the Robson & Lindley Aquatic Center, SMU will be the only University in the country with both an indoor and outdoor, 8-lane, 50-meter pool in one facility — the outdoor pool is set to be unveiled on December 8 at 11:30 a.m.
