DALLAS (SMU)- Using Amirah Abdur-Rahim's second double-double of the season, including 15 points and a career-high 13 rebounds, the SMU Mustangs defeated the Sam Houston Bearkats 69-64 Monday night in Moody Coliseum.

SMU held Sam Houston to 29.7% shooting (22-74) from the field and outrebounded the Bearkats 53-40. The Mustangs dominated inside, outscoring Sam Houston 34-20 in the paint.

Four Mustangs scored in double figures, led by Abdur-Rahim's 15. The senior forward added a career-high in assists with three and steals with two. Tamia Jones filled out the stat sheet, adding 11 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and three steals.

Tiara Young added double-digit points for the 10th time this season with 10. She tallied six rebounds. Chantae Embry scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds, and Reagan Bradley finished with seven points, six assists, and a season-high six rebounds. TK Pitts chipped in four points, eight boards, three assists, two blocks, and a steal. Jiya Perry finished with four points and two rebounds, and Maya Chandler added six.

Bradley knocked down a triple to extend SMU's lead to seven at the fourth-quarter media timeout. Embry finished a drive and knocked down a deep jump shot to put SMU in front 60-51. Abdur-Rahim grabbed her 10th rebound of the game and put back a layup to give SMU a 10-point lead with three and a half minutes left to play. Sam Houston cut the deficit to three with under 30 seconds remaining, but a bucket from Pitts sealed the victory. SMU opened the second half on an 11-2 run to lead 43-46. Young finished a second-chance bucket to give the Mustangs a 48-44 lead heading to the fourth quarter.

SMU jumped out to a 9-4 lead after hitting its first four shots from the field. The Mustangs held the Bearkats scoreless for over three minutes, and Chandler drilled a three to extend SMU's lead to nine at the first quarter media timeout. SMU led 18-15 entering the second after Sam Houston closed the quarter with two straight buckets. An Embry three-point jumper countered seven unanswered from Sam Houston to open the second period. The Bearkats took a 34-32 lead into the half.
