Mads Westergren Selected By FC Dallas In 2024 MLS SuperDraft

DALLAS (SMU) – Mads Westergren was selected by FC Dallas in Tuesday's 2024 MLS SuperDraft, marking the 38th SMU men's soccer player drafted in program history.

Westergren went off the board in the third round with the 73rd overall pick.
In 2023, Westergren was named a First Team All-American and a First Team All-East Region selection. He was also 2023 MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist — the most coveted individual honor in NCAA Division I soccer.
Westergren assisted in anchoring SMU's backline throughout his junior campaign, helping lead the Mustangs to the American Athletic Conference's top-rated defense and receiving the AAC Defensive Player of the Year Award.
Additionally, Westergren was selected to the All-AAC First Team and earned an invitation to the 2023 Adidas MLS College Showcase.
Following the conclusion of the Mustangs' 2023 season — Westergren finished ranked as the No. 21 player in the country by Top Drawer Soccer.
Westergren was instrumental in helping SMU earn the No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament and advancing to the third round. En route to the postseason, the Mustangs also won the AAC regular-season outright with a 7-0-1 conference mark.
