The Mustangs have a big week of travel – splitting into four different meets – with competition starting today.Â
Each athlete will seek to improve on their opening performances this week at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic in San Francisco, the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, the Texas Relays in Austin and the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos. The sprinters, jumpers and multis will remain in Texas with the 4x100 competing at Texas Relays along with Raelyn Roberson in the long jump. Nearly everyone else in that group will compete at Texas State.Â
Meanwhile, the distance athletes head to California. At San Francisco State, Jessie Crowley and Nikoleta Rafailaki will compete in the steeplechase, Leoni Mierswa will be in the 1,500 and the 5k will contain three Mustangs: Lior Kremer, Alanis Robineau, and Kendall Saeger.Â
Kaitlyn Gearin and Maddie Hulcy will also compete in the 5k but at Stanford, along with Macey Hilton in the 800.Â
"I really love this weekend of competition because, even though we split the team up, everyone gets the opportunity to be in a section/flight that they can win," Head Coach A'Havahla Haynes said. "If each woman puts their nose in their event, they will come away making big improvements."Â
