SMU's Second Varsity Eight Wins AAC Boat Of The Week

IRVING, Texas (AAC/SMU) – SMU second varsity eight boat was named American Athletic Conference Boat of the Week by the league office on Wednesday.
The boat consists of coxswain Kate Hadley along with Sophie Hill, Sydney Suntrup, Sarah Abrams, Emily Baker, Hannah Richardson, Allison Lea, Claire Murphy and Grace Knudson. The second varsity eight won one race over the weekend at the Big 10 Invitational and placed second twice.
The 2v8 finished just three seconds off No. 2 Stanford in the first race of the weekend, beating No. 13 Michigan by two seconds and No. 20 Indiana by 13 seconds. In the second race, the boat was two seconds behind No. 11 Ohio State beating No. 19 Alabama and Michigan State. In its final race, SMU 2v8 was clear of Rutgers by 4.4 seconds topping all three teams including No. 20 Indiana and No. 12 Duke.
The Mustangs return to action April 29-30 at Stanford.
