Rowing Moves Up To No. 12 In Latest Coaches Poll

DALLAS (SMU/CRCA) - SMU rowing moved up in the latest Pocock CRCA Coaches Poll announced by the CRCA on Wednesday.
The Mustangs are ranked No. 12, one up from their previous ranking, surpassing current No. 13 Ohio State in the process.
This week, SMU travels to the west coast for the Pac 12 Invite. The Mustangs compete against No. 4 Stanford, No.7 Cal and Iowa. Racing begins on Saturday as the Mustangs take off in the first race at 9 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. CT. The competition is split into two segments on Saturday with the final segment beginning at 3 p.m. PT / 5 p.m. CT. The event concludes on Sunday with one session slated for 9 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. CT.
Last time out, the Mustangs competed at the Big 10 Invitational. SMU recorded eight top two finishes in 10 races on the first day of competition. SMU won the second varsity four race with a time of 7:18.561 beating Indiana and Michigan. SMU also won the first varsity four race with a nearly five second advantage over Ohio State. On Saturday, the Mustangs won four races, placing in the top two in each race. The first varsity eight, second varsity four, third varsity four and second varsity eight all tallied victories.
The second varsity eight boat was named AAC Boat of the Week for its performance across the weekend, winning one race and placing second twice. The team beat the likes of Michigan, Alabama, Indiana, Duke, Rutgers and Michigan State.
