Mustangs Complete Day One At Pac 12 Challenge

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (SMU) - SMU rowing finished day one of action competing against No. 4 Stanford and No. 7 Cal at the Pac 12 Invite on Saturday from Redwood Shores.
In the first set of races, SMU went up against No. 7 Cal in a series of four races. SMU finished second each time coming within three seconds in the second varsity eight race (6:25.4). They finished 11.5 back in second varsity four and 11.8 back in second varsity eight. In first varsity four, the Mustangs finished in 7:17.8 and a margin of 12.6.
In the afternoon session, SMU met up with the fourth-ranked Cardinal of Stanford. The Mustangs started by finishing 6.5 seconds off Stanford in first varsity eight, crossing the line in 6:18.5. SMU came across in 6:29.2 in the second varsity eight, 11.8 seconds behind Stanford. The Mustangs posted a time of 7:17.8 (13.6 margin) in first varsity four and 7:25.2 (8.5 margin) in second varsity four.
The Mustangs return to the water on Sunday for another set of four races. Racing begins at 9:20 a.m. PT / 11:20 a.m. CT with the first varsity eight against Iowa.
