NORMAN, Okla. (SMU) – Nathan Petronzio finished in a tie for 48th place at the NCAA Norman Regional on Wednesday at OU Jimmie Austin Golf Club.
 
Petronzio came into the final round of the Regional sitting in 55^th place after shooting four over par for the first two days of the Regional. After starting the day with four straight pars, Petronzio moved up the leaderboard with a birdie on No. 5. He would go to two-under for the day with another birdie on No. 8. He moved to four-under par with back-to-back birdies on No. 10 and No. 11 to start the back nine. A pair of bogeys moved him back to two-under. On the final hole of the day, Petronzio sunk a birdie putt to finish the day in 48^th place at three-under and one-over for the tournament.
 
The junior moved up seven spots on the leaderboard with his below par round.  It was Petronzio's 22^nd round under par this season and 11^th round in the sixties. He finished 15 strokes back of regional champ, Ludvig Aberg of Texas Tech and finished 10 strokes back of Will King of Kansas for the final qualifying position to the NCAA Championship
 
With the close of the Regional, the Mustangs wrap up their 2022-23 season. The Mustangs posted three top-three finishes during the season. Petronzio had two individual titles to his name at the Trinity Forest Invitational and the Wake Forest Invitational. Petronzio and Will Sides were named All-Conference by the AAC during the season.
