
Mustangs Advance All Three Boats To NCAA Semifinals For First Time In Program History

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. (SMU) – For the first time in program history, SMU rowing advanced all three boats to the A/B semifinals at the NCAA Championship.
Under the leadership of head coach Kim Cupini, The Mustangs set the new program best mark with three third-place finishes on Friday at the NCAA Championships.
The first varsity eight team of Sasha Radovanovic (Cox), Meg Flannagan, Megan Hewison, Sarah Abrams, Alice Fahey, Nicole Campbell, Gracie Condon, Daisy Butterworth, Grace Knudson opened SMU's day with a third place showing. The team completed the race with a 9.234 second cushion over fourth-place Indiana.
The second varsity eight team of Kate Hadley (Cox), Sophie Hill, Victoria Franklin, Amy Salesky, Allison Lea, Hannah Richardson, Emily Baker, Claire Murphy and Sydney Suntrup finished in third. The squad finished 8.460 seconds in front of Rutgers for the final qualifying spot.
The varsity four squad consisted of Alexandra Taylor (Cox), Jaime Maybery, Anne Ensley, Lauren Bilafer and Laura Purvis. They recorded a third place finish, crossing the line in 7:42.189, 3.386 second ahead of fourth-place Penn.
SMU competes in the semifinal today, Saturday May 27, starting at 8 a.m. CT / 9 a.m. ET with the first varsity eight. The second varsity eight competes at 8:48 a.m. CT / 9:48 a.m. ET and the varsity four competes at 9:36 a.m. CT / 10:36 a.m. ET.
