DALLAS (SMU) – SMU rowing maintained its spot as the No. 12 team in the country in the latest edition of the Pocock CRCA Coaches poll.
 
Last time out, the Mustangs raced in the Pac 12 Invite. At the Invite, the Mustangs competed against No. 4 Stanford, No. 7 Cal and Iowa. Against No. 7 Cal, the Mustangs finished second each time coming within three seconds in the second varsity eight race (6:25.4). They finished 11.5 seconds back in the second varsity four and 11.8 back in the second varsity eight. In first varsity four, the Mustangs came in in 7:17.8, 12.6 seconds behind.
 
In the afternoon of day one, the Mustangs faced No. 4 Stanford. The first varsity eight highlighted the session coming within 6.5 seconds of the Cardinal.
 
On Sunday, the Mustangs won three of four races against Iowa. They started with a 2.8 second victory in the first varsity eight. SMU then beat Iowa in the second varsity eight by 19.4 seconds and 14.7 in the second varsity four. The first varsity four caught a crab in their race and finished three seconds behind Iowa
 
Next up, The Mustangs look to defend their title at the American Athletic Conference Rowing Championship on Sunday, May 14.
