Corcoran And Hoagland To Represent USA In Swimming At 2023 World University Games

DALLAS – SMU's Annabelle Corcoran and Jack Hoagland are set to compete for Team USA in swimming at the 2023 FISU World University Games in Chengdu, China for the upcoming 2023 FISU World University Games. The event commences with the opening ceremony July 28, and swimming competition begins on Aug. 1.

Corcoran will swim the 1,500 freestyle and Hoagland competing in the 1,500 freestyle, 800 freestyle, 400 freestyle and 4x200 free relay.

 Corcoran, who was recently awarded the American SAAC's 2023 Community Impact Award and also graduated with her Master of Management Science in the honors program. For SMU's swimming program, she won the 2023 Red and Blue Award and finished 10th in the 2022 CSCAA College Open Water National Championship 5K. 

 We are very proud of Annabelle for everything she has accomplished at SMU both in the pool and in the classroom," Head Women's Swimming Coach Ozzie Quevedo said. "To cap off her collegiate career at SMU representing the U.S. at the World University Games is a clear example of who she is and how she handles herself every single day."

Hoagland is set to join the Mustangs as a graduate transfer for the 2023-24 season graduating from Notre Dame. He was a four-time ACC Champion and 8-time All-American while in South Bend.

"It's great to have SMU represented on the world stage once again," Head Men's Swimming Coach Greg Rhodenbaugh said. "Jack will be a great ambassador for the Mustangs and Team USA."
