KANSAS CITY, Mo. (United Soccer Coaches/SMU) – SMU women's soccer was announced as a 2022-23 College Team Academic Award Winner by the United Soccer Coaches on Wednesday.

SMU's 3.40 team GPA exceeded the award's requirements of a 3.0 or higher, earning the Mustangs the annual recognition for academic excellence.

SMU is one of 179 programs nationwide that both the women's and men's programs received the award in the 2023.

The Mustangs enter the season receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches' Preseason Poll, as well as being one of two teams voted among conference coaches to win the AAC.

SMU opens the season on Thursday in a road battle against No. 9 TCU in Fort Worth, Texas. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
