Mustangs Release 2023-24 Schedule

DALLAS (SMU) – Men's head coach Greg Rhodenbaugh and Darian Schmidt have released the 2023-24 men's swimming and diving schedule.

The Mustangs open the season at home on Oct. 6-7 with the always competitive, two-day SMU Classic, a tri-meet with Incarnate Word and Oklahoma Christian University (Oct. 14) and also host the University of Minnesota (Oct. 20-21), in the first half of the season. The annual community drawing SMU Invite follows accordingly on Nov. 16-18, with the men competing against Drury, Hawaii and Yale.

The spring portion of the schedule opens with the Mustangs traveling to the University of North Carolina (Jan. 9) and Texas A&M University (Feb. 2). To honor SMU's senior class, Senior Day will be celebrated as the Mustangs host the University of Texas on Feb. 9.

Championship season begins Feb. 21 as SMU travels to Knoxville for the ASUN Conference Championships and continues with Lone Star Last Chance in College Station, Texas, the NCAA Zone Diving (March 11-16) and the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana. (March 21-30).

Rhodenbaugh is in his fifth season as head coach and swam for the Mustangs from 1980-84. He also served as an assistant coach for Arizona and former head coach for Missouri. With the Tigers, he saw 23 men earn 103 All-America honors.

Schmidt is the two-time AAC Coach of the Year and a former NCAA All-American. He is in his seventh season (2023-24) as the Mustangs' head diving coach. 

The Mustangs have won three straight American Athletic Conference Championships. In all, 31 student-athletes earned AAC All-Academic Team honors, while the team was also recognized with Jack Hoaglan competing in the 2023 World University Games as the team captain.
