DALLAS, Texas (SMU) -- The Mustangs will compete close to home Saturday morning at the annual Gerald Richey UTA Invitational. SMU is coming off a successful season opener where they placed third against a competitive field. They will look to continue to build off that success as the season progresses.Â
"The women look forward to competing near Dallas," Head Coach A'Havahla Haynes said. "Our objectives are to be controlled through our first mile and make a push over the final mile."Â
The race will begin at 7:30 a.m. with UTA, North Texas, TCU, Hill College and Southwestern Assemblies of God University among the competitors. SMU is the defending champion with four returners from last year's lineup slated to compete.Â
Maddie Hulcy placed second last year and will return for the Mustangs along with Kaitlyn Gearin who placed third. Macey Hilton, Leoni Mierswa, Kendall Saeger, Megan Aaron, and Faustine Chaboche will complete this year's lineup.Â
"This group has been training better than ever, and we have an experienced group on this course," Haynes said.Â
