SMU men's golf gained two spots on the leaderboard by moving up into third place on Monday at the Trinity Forest Invitational.

The Mustangs came into day two of the tournament alone in fifth place. With strong rounds in the 60s from
Zachary Kingsland,
Matthew Foster and
Will Sides the Mustangs passed Loyola Marymount and Louisiana on the leaderboard. The Mustangs now sit just three shots back of the leaders UNLV (-26). SMU third round score was 14-under par, the second best round by a Mustang squad at the Invitational. SMU had the most success in the field on the par fours shooting them seven-under par.

Sides led the Mustang charge with a 66 on Monday. He birdied four straight holes near the end of his round and carded a 32 on the back nine. Sides also started his day with two straight birdies. He finished with seven birdies on the day. The junior sits in a tie for fourth at eight under par.

Also in a tie for fourth, Kingsland pulled off a stretch of six birdies in seven holes during his astounding back nine. The junior shot a 30 on the final nine holes. He carded a 67 on the day. Kingsland moved up 11 spots during the round. The Austin, Texas native was seven-under on the par fours, two better than anyone else in the field.

Foster shot a 69 to sit in 15
th after day two. He moved up eight spots on the leaderboard with his round in the 60s.
Aaron Jarvis shot even par 72 to hold a share of 59
th place.
Andrew Petruzzelli is five-over for the tournament and in a tie for 70
th.

Four Mustangs are competing as individuals at the tournament.
Christian Clark maintained his standing at five-under par with an even 72 on his round. Clark birdied his first two holes and holds a share of 15
th.
J. Holland Humphries shot a 74 to sit in 27
th.
Gabe Post is even par through 36 holes and in a share of 38
th place.
Areen Aggarwal carded a 75 to sit in a tie for 52
nd.

The Mustangs return to the course for the final round on Tuesday with their sights set on moving up the leaderboard. They tee off at 10:10 a.m. paired alongside UNLV and USC.
