CARY, North Carolina (SMU) -- Emily Little becomes SMU's first Atlantic Coast Conference All-Conference Cross Country athlete after this morning's performance. Little finished 21st overall, earning herself All-Conference honors, with a time of 20:11.5 for the 6k race. Head Coach A'Havahla Haynes said Little ran a well-executed race with patience through the first 3k.

"After the first 3k, Emily ran on pure guts and determination," Haynes said. "Emily proved that she is capable of competing with the best women in the nation by being an All-ACC performer."

The Mustangs finished 14th in their first showing at the ACC Championship meet. Headed into this morning's race, 13 teams in the ACC were ranked in the USTFCCCA Polls with the ACC leading all conferences in the rankings.

"This championship proved to be a preview of the national championship," Haynes said.

Leoni Mierswa was the next Mustang across the line in 62nd with a time of 20:49.7. Macey Hilton and Kaitlyn Gearin crossed the line within less than two seconds of one another running 21:11.9 and 21:13.0. Faustine Chaboche ran a time of 21:37.9 as the fifth SMU athlete across the line. Ellie Grammas ran the 6k in 21:45.4. Flora Tissier followed with 22:09.9 and Charlotte Greenwood ran 23:14.8.

"As a team, the women held their own in a fast and furious race," Haynes said. "To be top 14 in the ACC lays another brick on our path to fighting for a top 2 position at the South Central Regional in 15 days and an NCAA berth."

SMU will compete next at the NCAA South Central Region Meet on Friday, November 15 in College Station.
