SETTING THE SCENE
•    No. 3 SMU travels to Auburn, Alabama, for a season rematch against No. 6 Auburn at the Auburn Equestrian Center on Saturday at 11 a.m. (CT).
•    The Mustangs have a 7-4 overall record, including five wins over ranked opponents. 
•    SMU defeated then No. 2 Auburn 12-8 on Nov. 11 at the Dallas Equestrian Center.
•    13 Mustangs have earned a total of 31 MOPs through SMU's 11 meets.

IN THE RANKINGS
•    SMU currently ranks as the No. 3 team in the NCEA's Dual Discipline poll.
•    The defending national champion Mustangs entered the season ranked atop the NCEA's Dual Discipline poll, marking the 29th consecutive week of competition as the nation's No. 1 team.

THE SERIES
•    SMU is 3-11 all-time against Auburn.
•    SMU defeated then No. 2 Auburn 12-8 on Nov. 11 at the Dallas Equestrian Center.

ALL-TIME PERFORMANCES
•    Nya Kearns earned her 18th Most Outstanding Performer at No. 2 Texas A&M on Feb. 24,  passing Schaefer Raposa (17) for a new program record for career MOP honors. 
•    Jayna Lagace and Nya Kearns both earned Horsemanship scores of 81.5 at No. 7 Oklahoma State on Feb. 17, marking a new tie for the program's highest score in the event.

A NATIONAL FORCE
•     SMU capitalized off its momentum from the last three seasons by winning the 2022-23 NCEA Dual Discipline National Championship. The Mustangs made their second consecutive appearance in the national semifinal meet after defeating then-No. 1 seed Auburn in 2021-22. In 2020-21, the program saw many firsts and records broken in its run to the national title meet.
•    The Mustangs finished the 2022-23 season with the best record in program history at 13-1, including a perfect 5-0 mark at home with a 9-1 record against ranked opponents. 
•     In her ninth season at SMU, Head Coach Carol Gwin produced the most successful season of her career, resulting in her first NCEA National Coach of the Year award. 
•    The Mustangs return 24 riders from last season's NCEA Championship squad, including seven All-America Honorees
