Box Score TULSA, Oklahoma (SMU) — No. 43 SMU women's tennis concluded its four-match road stretch with a 4-3 win over Tulsa. Graduate student Taylor Johnson recorded her 12th win of the season, clinching the match for the Mustangs.
"Tulsa is a tough place to play and the team rose to the occasion when it mattered," head coach Jeff Nevolo said. "I am very proud of our effort today."
In doubles play, Millie Skelton and Johnson partnered to earn the first win of the match against Tayla Wilmot and Sanita Singh.
Freshman Caroline McGinley paired with Lana Mavor to take down Tulsa's Lily Hutchings and Maria Berlanga — 6-4 — securing the doubles point for SMU.
In singles play, three Mustangs earned match wins to finalize the victory for SMU.
Freshman Millie Skelton, a Great Britain native, took down Sanita Singh in a two-set sweep — 7-5, 6-1.
Reigning American Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year Hadley Doyle defeated Lily Hutchings (6-4, 6-4). Out of 11 matches, Doyle now holds nine wins on the season thus far.
Taylor Johnson defeated Oleksandra Nahurska, earning the final point of the match and clinching the win for the Mustangs (6-4, 1-6, 6-1).
